The Problem with Coffee Recommendations
Most coffee recommendations are based on roast level. Light, medium, dark. This is the equivalent of recommending wine by color. It tells you almost nothing about what you will actually enjoy, because the variables that matter — origin, variety, processing method, altitude, fermentation, roaster philosophy — are invisible in a roast level label.
Find Your Coffee is a personalized coffee finder built on BrewSoul's specialty coffee intelligence platform. It maps your flavor preferences, your brewing method, your tolerance for acidity and complexity, and your relationship with caffeine to identify the specific origins, processing methods, and roasters most likely to produce your ideal cup.
What Gets Assessed
Flavor preference is the foundation. The assessment maps your palate across the primary flavor families in specialty coffee: fruit-forward (berry, citrus, stone fruit), chocolate and caramel, floral and tea-like, earthy and savory, and nutty and sweet. Most people have a dominant preference and a secondary one.
Processing method preference follows from flavor. Natural-processed coffees are fruit-forward and complex. Washed coffees are clean and bright. Honey-processed coffees sit between the two. Your flavor preference predicts your processing preference with high accuracy.
Origin is the final layer. Ethiopian coffees are floral and fruit-forward. Colombian coffees are balanced and approachable. Kenyan coffees are bright and complex. Guatemalan coffees are chocolate-forward with good body. The assessment maps your preferences to the origins most likely to satisfy them.
BrewSoul's Database
The recommendations draw on BrewSoul's database of specialty coffees, which includes sourcing information, tasting notes, roaster profiles, and availability data. The goal is not just to identify your preference archetype but to connect you with specific coffees you can actually buy and brew.
